Bloomsburg Women's Basketball Defeats Columbia Union

BLOOMSBURG -- Colleen Kegerreis (Schuylkill Haven/Schuylkill Haven) netted a double-double and Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD/Archbishop Carrol) scored 17 points to lead the Bloomsburg University women's basketball team to a 76-58 win over Columbia Union College on Thursday night.

Every Bloomsburg player scored at least four points on the night as the Huskies won their third game of the season.

Bloomsburg jumped out to a 13-5 lead off of six points from Lee and five from Nicole Boone (Mountain Top/Crestwood) including a three-pointer at the 13-minute mark. A lay-up from Kegerreis gave Bloomsburg it's largest lead of the half at 14 points with 8:50 to play.

With just under two minutes in the half, the Pioneers cut the lead to 28-22 but Bloomsburg scored the next five points to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room.

Backed by 13 second half points from Kegerreis, the Huskies dominated play after the break. Columbia Union would get no closer than nine points as Bloomsburg won the game 76-58.

The Pioneers (0-6) were lead by Melanie Gordon who scored 13 points while Noriko Soto and Kayla Harrison each added nine.

For Bloomsburg (3-2), Lee finished with 17 points, Kegerreis had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Kelly Joyce (Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) added 12 points and eight rebounds. Rounding out the Huskies scoring were Kirby Johnson (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) who netted 10 points and Boone who finished with eight.

The Huskies are next in action on Saturday against Indiana (PA) at 1:00 p.m.
